I’ve also seen some really weird stuff with the combat AI. I keep finding myself in situations where I know both agendas, the overwhelming majority of the specific attitude modifiers are positive, but they’re still unfriendly to me and won’t take any deals that aren’t massively one-sided in their favour. Yeah, the AI definitely needs some work in diplomacy. Tl dr, good looking game and the systems work really well for humans, but dammit when are we going to see some REAL AI improvements, instead of things like harder difficulty just gives the AI stat/money/happy boosts, but having them play just the same stupidly braindead way as the last 20 years. In fact in some ways you could argue it has gotten worst, as the systems have become more complicated/intertwined and the AI just hasn’t improved at all. Still completely brain dead stupid, declaring war for no reason, sueing for peace next turn, not understanding its own money systems and being constantly bankrupt, not understanding its own map and military units (what, your charging my city again with your siege stuff all alone, yep good idea, again), and on and on. I really am looking forward to a real step forward in AI, to me it seriously feels like the AI has gone no-where for years, the AI in the latest Civ in 2016 feels really no different to the first Civ in 1991 (25 freaking years ago). So many games that are sequels of sequels (Civ series and Total War as two examples), the AI is still just so rubbish, the same as it was 15-20 years ago.īack then I could forgive it as it was a new genre and low power PC’s, but seriously there feels like there has been zero improvement in AI in that regard at all.

I wish someone could make the next great step and actually code GOOD AI. Only thing I’m not a huge fan of atm is how diplomacy with other civs works, seems like 90% hate me just for not being them…
